Am I a Lonely Post? Where's My Writer? (Blog Update No. 5)

Hello, peoples!!!! It's Tomas at Large!!!!!!!!!

I am sorry I have not updated in such a long time. I've been caught up with stuff in school a lot. I'm currently shooting 3 commercials - one for the Book Club, one for the Interact Club (community service), and one for a friend who's aspiring to win the Silver Knight for Social Studies. On top of that, I'm doing homework and getting all ready for Valentine's Day, which for me in particular, and Gia; it'll be a pretty special day. Even if we just go watch a movie.
 
I likely have lots of stuff to say, but the problem is, unless you keep a list of it, you likely forget. I haven't kept a list. But I do have something for you guys to ponder aboout. My AP World History teacher said it

   History always repeats itself. The players may be different, but the game's still the same.

Hopefully she won't be mad that I quoted her on that, but it's such an intelligently concise, universal, and just astoundingly great quote. In a description more intricate than the quote itself, it summarizes the growth and development of The Earth and its Peoples from prehistry to the present. Repeating patterns that somehow end up in something different every generation (computers weren't around in Stony's age). It's a great quote, and I'll definitely always keep it in the back of my head whenever I'm studying history. 

Here's some more stuff for you guys. I'm sure some of you guys know Meg Cabot, the author of books such as Avalon High (which the Book Club is reading now) and The Mediator. Well, she'll be holding a presentation at the Books and Books in Coral Gables, Miami, FL, USA (=D) and I'll be going, so I'll tell you guys all about it when I come back. It's such an exciting opportunity to be able to meet the creator of a book, to see if your interpretations match with the correct ones. 

I'm trying really hard to remember what else to write about. Well, it's better to write about something when it's well at the front of your Memory Priority Table. I have some perverted computer motherboard jokes, but I doubt those are appropriate. See if you can come up with a few. Ah, yes. What 15 minutes of 1st Period for attendance can do to a child.

Anyway, just wanted to update my blog so you guys know I'm still here. I'll try to stop going on such long hiatuses, and I'll see if I can write up a full article soon as well (instead of just the blog updates).

Blog Update No. 4 - Midterms, Rude Awakenings, and Change

Hello, all! In an effort to maintain the philosophy I expressed in Edition 3 of the Blog Update, I'm simply writing this up to tell you all what I'm up to.

Well, right now, midterms are in school this week. So far we've been doing the writing portions, and I've been doing pretty well, but so far, also, I've been getting late to school!!!! It really stinks. On Tues. I woke up at 7:20 Am (my bell rings at 7:30). It's weird, however - on that day I got to school on time, but today, I woke up on time ,7:00, and I missed the bell! What is that?! Hope fully things will improve before it has an adverse effect on this week of examination (and the next, too!). I really hope I get early tomorrow - there's a test first period! Here's to avoiding a RUDE AWAKENING!

In English class, where, to little surprise, most ideas for blog posts so far have stemmed from, we were discussing topics we could use for our midterm essay tomorrow. Quite unanimously, and quite instantly, we decide d the topic would be change. It's something that we've seen quite often in the novels we've read (so far, we've visited the enchanted worlds of Jack London's Call of the Wild, Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and more), but besides that, it's just a topic, I think, we all want to write about. It's a multi-faceted subject to write about, especially today in the United States. With a brand-new president about to take to the White House, change is on everyone mind. A better economy, lower costs for living, and more importantly, the elimination of four dollar gas, is really what everyone wants. Everyone's hoping for change right about now, in the world of politics and economy.

But also, part of the change I think we'll all be writing about tomorrow is personal change. References to our books, notably A Christmas Carol, which we just wrapped up, will definitely be present, but another matter of discussion will also be what causes a person to change. I still have to decide just exactly what I'll talk about, but I'm glad that we'll be writing about a subject that's so popular right now. Change. It's a simple word, and really, it could just be used to talk about the pennies you get back from buying a one dollar Whopper (I could really use one right now... yeah...), but it's an arrangement of six letters that has not only been seen before in history, it's a phenomenon that we're all hoping to see again now. Both in the political world of the United States, but perhaps also in ourselves, now with the new year giving us all a chance to fix what's wrong.

Blog Update No. 3

Hello, peoples!

Hi, it's Tom/Tomas/Tomas at Large! Welcome again (or just welcome, whatever the case) to my blog, the Tomas at Large blog.

Just wanted to say hello, in addition to a couple of things. If you've been reading the last few posts, then you know that most of the stuff I type up on here are somewhat extended articles about differing topics. I decided to post not only those, but now, shorter ones as well, just to say what I'm up to, or what projects I'm working on, whatever. To make it a little bit more personal, you know?

So anyway, just wanted to say that. Right now I'm enjoying my Winter Break from school, and trying out a brand new operating system called MCNLive, based on Mandriva Linux - it's uber-cool; check it out here. You can even put it on an iPod, which is what I'm using now since my hard drive broke. :D

As far as video projects (yes, this is my hobby; check out all my videos at my Visionary Productions website here), right now I've got nothing scheduled. In production class, my team and I are working on a PSA for ending homelessness, so that's what I'll be busy with for now.
